OUR APPROACH

A Collaborative, Personalised Process

Every coaching or counselling journey is unique. Our approach is based on building a trusting, non-judgemental relationship where we can explore what matters to you. We begin by identifying where you are now and where you’d like to be. Together, we’ll:

  • Clarify your values, strengths, and goals

  • Identify what might be getting in the way

  • Set realistic, meaningful objectives

  • Create an action plan that works for your lifestyle

  • Reflect and adjust as we go, ensuring the process stays right for you

This is your space to grow, at your pace.

Blended Tools for Meaningful Change

I combine a variety of evidence-based techniques to tailor the process to your needs, including:

  • Coaching tools and models to support clarity, motivation, and goal-setting

  • Motivational Interviewing to enhance your confidence and commitment to change

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) techniques to help challenge unhelpful thinking patterns and develop more positive, constructive ways of approaching challenges

Whether you’re working through anxiety, facing work-related stress, navigating a life transition, or seeking to improve relationships and wellbeing, I draw from a wide toolkit to support your unique needs.

What Does a Counsellor Do?

A counsellor helps you explore your emotions, thoughts, and behaviours in a confidential, non-judgemental space. It’s a chance to talk openly and be heard—sometimes for the first time—without fear of being dismissed or told what to do.

Counselling is especially helpful when you're dealing with stress, low mood, anxiety, past experiences, or relationship difficulties. It can support you in understanding patterns, processing difficult feelings, and developing healthier ways to cope. My role is to listen, reflect, and gently guide—not to give advice or quick fixes.

What Is the Difference Between a Counsellor and a Life Coach?

Counselling and life coaching both support personal growth, but they focus on different aspects:

  • Counselling tends to explore the past and present, helping you work through emotional challenges and make sense of your experiences. It’s often about healing, processing, and building self-awareness.

  • Life Coaching is future-focused. It’s about identifying what you want, setting meaningful goals, overcoming obstacles, and taking practical steps forward. It’s ideal if you’re looking to make a change, achieve something new, or move ahead with confidence.

The two approaches are different, but they can work beautifully together.

Can I Have Coaching and Counselling at the Same Time?

Yes—many people benefit from a blended approach, and that’s exactly what I offer.

In practice, this means that one session might involve some deeper reflection or emotional support, and the next could be focused on taking action, planning, or building confidence. You don’t have to choose one or the other—we’ll shape the process around your needs, so you get the right kind of support at the right time.
